A BIT OF BACKGROUND.

HOW WE GOT STARTED.

From a very young age I had an avid interest in the countryside and all the wildlife that came with it. Birds of prey were of particular interest. Seven years ago I took the plunge and did a falconry course and off the back of that I purchased a Harris hawk. I trained the hawk with great success but you could only produce limited amounts of game by hitting the hedges. It was on my mind to get a HPR dog and I wanted a Brittney as my Falconry tutor had one but my wife Emma was adamant NO dogs especially long haired ones! We settled on ferrets as they could live outside. A year or so later I wanted a dog again, I stumbled across the Hungarian Vizsla by chance, a friend had one which was very well trained. I ran it by the wife and because of the short fur and a clean look she gave in. I did my research and purchased my foundation bitch Amira [Hookside Szerelmem at Facanvadasz]. I was very committed to her training and it payed off. She is the perfect hawking partner. The falconry season is short so not wanting to waste her training we started beating and picking up various local shoots. She fast became a firm favourite of the guns as she was a natural at all aspects. With some sharpening up of her training with various HPR trainers we also began to compete in working tests and field trials proudly winning out of puppy and novice also placing in open.At the same time I was encouraged to show. We took part in ring craft lessons and found success in this country and the Czech Republic gaining placings in championship shows and a CAC abroad. Amira had more than proven herself as worthy to breed from so in 2019 she had her first litter of puppies.
